Cassino. National Archaeological Museum "Gianfilippo Carrettoni"

The National Archaeological Museum "Gianfilippo Carrettoni" of Cassino, named after the archaeologist who carried out excavations in the ancient Casinum, is placed within the Roman city and encompasses ancient environments.

The exhibits are housed in three rooms: the prehistoric-protohistoric section, the section dedicated to ceramics and architectural materials, and the one that shows together sculptures and inscriptions.

In the Lapidarium, downstairs, the collections of architectural elements and funerary inscriptions from the territory are shown.

The museum is located in a vast archaeological area, in which there is still a stretch of Roman paved road, a mausoleum, an amphitheatre and the theatre from the Augustan age.

The mausoleum is traditionally attributed to the matron Ummidia Quadratilla
