Genazzano. Apolloni Palace

According to tradition, Apolloni Palace in Genazzano is the birthplace of papa Martino V Colonna and is a stately building in the city centre.

It has a style that appears Aragonese gothic and that recalls that of the Kingdom of Naples with which the Colonna had strong ties.

The building has four floors and the simplicity of the external forms is enriched by valuable mullioned windows rich of notches in the rosette, from the arched portal and from the window frames.

The palace with the property of the Apolloni family was the seat of the Court of the Baron.

In 1910 it was bought by Cardinal Vincenzo Vannutelli who had it restored by architect Juvenal, bringing it back to its original form.
