The upper part of the village of Arcinazzo Romano was occupied by the castle which was originally part of the defensive system of the Subiaco abbey. Beyond the initial fortress, a wall was built over the centuries to protect the citizens.
Today only two entrance gates remain of that wall, which still mark the entrance to the historic centre, while walking around the alleys of the city you can recognize the outlines of some of the towers of the wall system.
