Arpino. Ladislao Castle

Arpino. Ladislao Castle

The Ladislao Castle of Arpino dates back to the fourteenth century.

It is named after the King of Naples, Ladislao I (1376-1414) of the Angevin dynasty, which for a time established his court there.

After several desertions, destructions and reconstructions, it become one of the largest woollen mills of Arpino between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, owned by the Ciccodicola family.

With the industrial crisis the castle became an orphanage, then a military hospital and finally a school for chemists. In it is an exposition and convention centre.

The castle is home to the Fondazione Umberto Mastroianni.
