Bassano Romano. Giustiniani Odescalchi Palace

Bassano Romano. Giustiniani Odescalchi Palace

In Bassano Romano, the Giustiniani Odescalchi palace is formed by the many changes that have been made to the original Castrum over the centuries.

The transformation into the palace took place mainly in the 1600s at the instruction of the Giustiniani family.

The basement and ground floor have been accommodation for the Anguillara.

In 1595, the Giustiniani family added the main floor, which also connected to an Italian-style garden with fountains, avenues and water features.

The Giustiniani also ordered the palace fresco by Antonio Tempesta.

Other rooms have extraordinary examples of Baroque painting: the hall painted by Francesco Albani (1578-1660) with the "Fall of Phaeton from the chariot", the roomfrescoes by Domenichino (1581-1641) and Bernardo Castello (1557-1629) .

On the ground floor is constructed a unique small theater.
