Bomarzo. Statue of Saint Anselm

Bomarzo. Statue of Saint Anselm

The statue represents Saint Anselm, bishop and patron saint of the city of Bomarzo loved for the miracle of having freed the city from the invader Totila twice.

The first time, thanks to God's help, he would have rendered the aggressors harmless thanks to spirits who would have taken possession of their bodies. The second time he stopped them by making a sign of the cross in the sky which brought a shower of lead acorns on the enemies.

The feast of Saint Anselm is one of the most beautiful in Bomarzo.
