Monterosi. Cardinal’s Palace

Monterosi. Cardinal’s Palace

The Cardinal’s Palace at Monterosi is also known as the Del Drago Palace or Altieri Palace.

It was built in the sixteenth century on an ancient monastery of Cistercian monks and became the residence of Cardinal Alessandro Farnese, nephew of Pope Paul III.

In 1588 it was the residence of Ippolito Aldobrandini, who later became Pope Clement VIII.

Since 1870 the palace became the property of the Roman family Del Drago until the postwar period.
