Castrocielo. Capuana Gate

The Capuana Gate dates from the beginning of the imperial era and is the only Romana work still intact.

Originally the ancient Roman city of Aquinum had four doors, but two no longer exist, and the third is just a pile of stones in a heap after the collapse.

Aquinum today is divided between the territories of Castrocielo and Aquino.

Under the door is also visible another stretch of the ancient Latina way, which a little later joined with the Via Appia and that led to Brindisi.
