Celleno. Convent of Saint John the Baptist

The convent of Saint John the Baptist in Celleno was built in 1610 following a Bull of Pope Paul V to the Reformed Fathers.

It was enlarged in 1769 to accommodate up to 30 devotees.

The monastery revolves around a richly frescoed cloister that has the characteristic monumental cistern for collecting rainwater.

The church is adorned with paintings and elegant wooden choir stalls of 1600s are located in the apse of the church.

Inside the walls is a wonderful park of holm oaks.

Since the 80s, the monastery has been a cultural tourist center.
