Cori. Porticato Road (le Sipportica)

The ancient Via del Porticato (le Sipportica) follows a stretch of the route of the ancient city wall near Porta Ninfina.

During the Middle Ages, from the twelfth century, the street was covered like a portico with houses and towers while in the seventeenth century the majestic Palazzo Chiari was built with the entrance right in the middle of the porch.

At the sides of the street there were shops, taverns and warehouses while on the other side of the openings they allowed you to see what was happening outside the walls.
