Latera. Farnese palace (called fortress)

The Farnese palace of Latera was built in the sixteenth century by the Farnese family.

The majestic ashlar stone portal is a coat of arms depicting a cow with calf, a castle and a bishop's mitre.

This denotes the building belonging to the former Basilian Monks of Grottaferrata (1682-1810).

The monks then built a wing and an open courtyard that encloses the area of access to the building.
