Fiuggi. Statue of St. Blaise

Fiuggi. Statue of St. Blaise

The statue is a work by Thomas Gismondi and represents saint Blaise - San Biagio, protector of Fiuggi.

He was an Armenian martyr who died in 316 during the persecution ordered by Emperor Licinius.

San Biagio had saved a child by pulling out a plug that had been stuck in his throat and for this he became the protector of sore throat.
