Valmontone. Fountain of Colle

The Colle fountain was erected in Valmontone in Baroque style and is formed by a pedestal that supports four circular basins at the corners which are decorated with lion heads.

On the pedestal there is a column on whose capital stands a bronze statue of the Labicano, the Roman warrior symbol of Valmontone since the nineteenth century.

The fountain was almost completely destroyed by the bombings of the Second World War, except for one of the basins and the pedestal: the monument was restored and rebuilt in 1968.

The current column is from the imperial era and is a gift from the city of Rome.
