At the center of Campagnano di Roma it is possible to admire the spectacular Fontana dei Delfini (fountain of dolphins), with its unmistakable baroque shapes.
The fountain is attributed to Vignola and takes its name from the sculpture of two travertine dolphins placed at the base of a pedestal with a large bell in peperino stone.
The contrast between the color of marble and that of peperino creates an exciting game that emphasizes the sinuous curves of the dolphins that originally sprayed the water in a shell-shaped tank.
The real fountain was instead fed by masks that threw it in the tanks at the foot of the structure and in the troughs that today have been demolished.
The fountain ends with a large bell in peperino stone.
