The fountain of the Dolphins is located in the main square of Priverno and was built by the architect Giuseppe Olivieri in 1877 on the occasion of the arrival of the aqueduct in Priverno.
The name comes from a sculpture where you see dolphins which support the putti that in turn support a cistern in which the water comes.
The fountain is located behind a facade and was built on two levels: on the lower were fountains that gave the water to the population and the high part was monumental.
With the creation of the drinking water distribution network in the town, in 1954 the lower part of the fountain of the dolphins has been converted into a monument to the fallen of the First World War.
The architect Giuseppe Olivieri was also the designer of the fountains of St. Nicholas and Santa Chiara.
