Montelibretti. Town and Castle Barberini Gate

Montelibretti. Town and Castle Barberini Gate

The entrance to the Barberini Castle is also the entrance to the ancient village of Montelibretti.

It is a majestic portal that over time has ended its the defensive functions and has become an element of the city's decoration.

The entrance arch has a simple marble frame and above the gate is the family Barberini crest.

Still higher up was a masonry element of decor and a clock that marked the time for the whole town.
