Gorga. Doria Pamphili Palace

During the middle age, a fortress was built at the highest point of Gorga, perhaps on a Roman lookout point, to protect the population and be a sentry over the entire Sacco Valley.

The medieval castle gave rise to the village of Gorga and was the seat of the De Ceccano lords, and then of the branch Segni – Valmontone of the Counts, who governed the city.

Over time this castle fell into disrepair and in the Renaissance Camillo Pamphili transformed its tower into a noble residence which was used for the administration of the feud.

Today the building houses the headquarters of the municipality of Gorga.
