Leonessa. Margaritian Fountain

The Margaritian fountain is made up of one octagonal bath, on whose sides are some coats of arms including that of the Habsburgs, and a central spindle.

Everything resting on a stand of three steps in the main square of Leonessa.

It was ordered by Margherita of Austria in 1548, and is in a position decentralized from the square but in line with Via Recta way.

Along with the fountain the aqueduct of three miles length was constructed to convey the waters of Riofuggio from the foothill of Capocanale up to the Square
