Guidonia Montecelio. Medieval Fortress of Montecelio

In the village of Montecelio are the remains of the original fortress built on a temple of Corniculum (home of Servio Tullio).

The castle, the Castrum Monticellorum, was surrounded by walls that followed the prehistoric walls.

Inside the castle was built a quadrangular fortress, almost completely collapsed today, in which the Abbot of Subiaco was imprisoned and killed.
