Morolo. Fountain of the Aqueduct Sant'Antone

The large marble fountain is located right in the center of the main square of Morolo and was built in 1889 on the occasion of the arrival of the Sant'Antone aqueduct.

On the occasion of the arrival of running water, in fact, a first fountain was built in the historic centers in order to allow everyone to use the water before its subsequent distribution in individual homes.

The marble fountain was built by the stonecutters of the Val di Comino and consists of a central basin with an elongated and sinuous shape and a column with the Morolo coat of arms on the sides of which there are two spouts that distribute the water.

Above the column is a circular basin with a decorative water jet.

The whole complex is inserted in a small enclosure made with small marble columns and metal fittings to allow the water containers to be placed.
