Magliano Romano. Orsini Castle

he Orsini castle di Magliano Romano dates back to the medieval period and the need to control the Nocchia valley. It was started from the monastery of San Paolo fuori le Mura in Rome and then passed through numerous families, Anguillara, Orsini, Cesi, Chigi.

The current castle dates back to 1241 when the whole town center was moved to its present position after a bloody war against Viterbo.

The fort is located in the center of the town of Magliano Romano and over time has undergone a significant transformation in the late sixteenth century, when many fortresses became residential buildings.

The ashlar entrance portal, the monumental internal staircase, the fireplaces on the noble floor are noteworthy. Today it is privately owned.
