The Palace of the Prince in Fondi, with its simultaneously constructed castle, was used as an elegant home for the feudal lord (besides Caetani-Colonna Gonzaga) and connected to the castle with a small wooden bridge.
It is a remarkable example of "Mediterranean" Renaissance architecture mingling Italians and Catalan styles. I
n fact, the Palazzo has some special architectural elements: an Angevin style door (as in the medieval quarter of Gaeta) and an arched arcade on the first floor.
To underline, then the fantastic decoration of the elegant single and double windows consisted of a soft stone slab with fretwork that seems like embroidery.
These works were undertaken by the Catalan artist Matteo Forcimanya and make the palace a magnificent example of the Italian-Catalan art.
