Genazzano. Porta Romana

Porta Romana is the town gate as you come from Rome through the lower part of town.

Over the gate is the crest of Genazzano in red brick and a circular bulwark escarpment with loopholes on its right side.

Next to this medieval gate is a great defence tower enclosing the entire area of the old cemetery of the Church of Santa Croce.

The door has been restored after the bombings of World War II.

Near the gate, are the remains of the access to the secondary Porta Portella.
