The main way of entry to the historic centre of Prossedi is enriched by a big public clock.
The door style was changed by the Gabrielli princes who realised a bossage stone arch frame and a doorway decorated with stucco pilasters supporting the elevated section with the clock.
On the door is written S.P.Q.P. (Senatus Populusque Prossedi).
The clock was one of the first to be placed in a public space and it not only regulated the life of the town but was subject to a form of 'tourism' for people who wanted to see it.
For control of the clock control the important role of 'clock regulator' was created.
The current clock dates back to 1899 and was manufactured by the firm of Federico Uccelli of Milan at a cost of 880 Lire.
