Gate of St Catherine

Riofreddo. Gate of St Catherine

The gate of Saint Catherine was the entrance to the center of Riofreddo for those coming from Rome along the Via Valeria. It is still crossed today and is one of the landmarks of the country.

The original gate has been partially destroyed and today the first line of squared stones worked in the shape of an arch is visible.

It takes its name from the church located near the entrance to the town which was originally used to bury those who died in the hospital of the SS. Announced.
