The small church of Saint Roch is located at the entrance to the town of Rocca di Mezzo (the hamlet of Rocca Canterano) and, like many churches dedicated to this saint, it was built to ask for the protection of the saint. In fact, San Rocco was the protector of the plague and traditionally his places of worship were placed to guard the gates of the historic centre.
The small building was built on a rock ridge and is a single room with a single altar in front of the entrance door. In the side walls you can admire two mullioned windows and the facade ends with a bell tower with a bell.
San Rocco is the protector of Rocca di Mezzo and is celebrated on August 16th each year.
