Castelnuovo di Porto. Rocca Colonna

This Colonna palace is the town's central nucleus around which Castelnuovo di Porto was founded.

This early medieval fortress was then converted into a palace in the late fifteenth century under Pope Nicholas V Colonna.

When the state took over the papal control of the centre, this building housed the Apostolic Chamber and was then transformed into a prison and into the District Court, which was active until 1960.

Today it belongs to the municipal administration.
