Roccasecca. Watch Tower

The profile of Roccasecca is characterized by the high watch tower, called "del Cannone".

It is located right on the highest point of Monte Asprano.

It was built as part of a lookout and defense system for the castle.

According to the story of the life of St. Thomas, the saint was placed in captivity in this tower by his parents for almost a year and a half.

St. Thomas had wanted to enter the order of the Dominicans and in 1244 he was imprisoned by his parents first in the tower of the castle of Monte San Giovanni Campano and then here in Roccasecca, his hometown.
