Scaramuccia gate

Roviano. Scaramuccia gate

Porta Scaramuccia - Skirmish gate is the entrance to the castle of Roviano and was part of the system of the village walls. It was built in the second half of the 14th century, although it was later destroyed and its current form dates back to 1880.

Its name Scaramuccia recalls a dispute that had taken place between the families of Roviano and those of Arsoli for the control of some water sources.
