Torre di Serrone
Serrone. Colonna Tower

Serrone. Colonna Tower

The Serrone profile is characterized by a solitary tower which stands on a spur above the old town.

The tower has two levels and from its position overlooks the entire valley and enjoys an amazing view.

The original castrum of Serrone was a square castle with a tower that was built around 1000 AD at 1100 meters above sea level.

It owes its name to the Colonna family who for years were the feudal lords of the area and who also became Prince of Paliano.

The castle was destroyed by the French cannons and all that remains is the tower around which is a picnic area.
