Marino. Villa the mermaid in Frattocchie

The villa the mermaid in Frattocchie of Marino is located within the complex of properties of the Trappists and was designed in the mid 1600s by Antonio Del Grande for Girolamo Colonna.

It was used to receive distinguished guests, especially the popes who were going to the residence of Castel Gandolfo.

The name of the villa derives from the statue of a mermaid (sirena), the heraldic emblem of the Colonna family, located near the fountain in the cave at the end of the avenue that comes from Appia gate.
