Florentine gate - Porta Fiorentina in Viterbo is the one you come across along the Cassia road from Florence and its original name was that of Porta Santa Lucia. From the door you arrive directly in the large Piazza della Rocca with the magnificent fountain overlooked by the Rocca Albornoz and Palazzo Grandori.
The central part of the door dates back to a remake of 1768 under the pontificate of Pope Clement XIII whose coat of arms can be seen on the top next to those of the Municipality and Governor Oddi. The coat of arms of the municipality is represented by the lion crowned in front of a palm tree.
In 1886 the door was enlarged again with the construction of two new side openings for the passage of vehicles and which was financed by the Cassa di Risparmio.
The door is characterized by a large clock that has marked city life for years.
