Viterbo. Paradosso bridge

The Paradosso bridge was built in Viterbo in the Middle Ages to join the two districts of Pianoscarano and San Pellegrino separated by the Paradosso ditch.

Today the stream is buried and along its course a part of the ancient city was born, but the bridge remained and still unites the two medieval parts of Viterbo.

We are in the oldest part of Viterbo, so much so that the name Pianoscarano derives from the Lombard 'squara' (row) which indicated the place where the troops' camps were located in the eighth century. Very often the cities are born on the places where once the military encampments with their services were organized.
