Montalto di Castro. Watchtower

Montalto di Castro. Watchtower

Near the mouth of the river Fiora, in the village Montalto Marina at Montalto di Castro is a fifteenth century watchtower.

The structure, with a square base, was built to defend the coast from the raids of the Saracens.

It has undergone over the centuries several modifications that have changed the appearance.
