Zagarolo. Rospigliosi Palace

The Rospigliosi palace of Zagarolo is linked to the history of the Colonna family, one of the most powerful of papal Rome.

Born as a medieval fortress with towers, moat and drawbridge.

Today it presents itself in its renaissance garb in the shape of a horseshoe with two fl oors and side wings that open onto the court.

On the facades of the building making a beautiful display are two monolithic pink granite columns with capitals of the Rospigliosi period.

Under one of them, there are two sarcophagi from the Roman era.
