Castelforte. Museum: Memory of World War II

The Museum: Memory of World War II in Castelforte is dedicated to the stories of the war's battles in this part of Italy near Monte Cassino Abbey and the Gustav Line (the dilate defence German front line)

The Battle of Castelforte lasted from October 1943 to May 1944: eight months of incessant shelling of land and sea and air strikes that sowed destruction. With the battle of May 11, 1944, finally finished.

The North African formations, the "marrocchini", who were the first into the city, gave themselves to looting and barbaric violence of all sorts.
