Fondi. Music Festival

Fondi. Music Festival

The Fondi Music Festival is an international music festival born in 2012 to bring the general public closer to the music of classical composers such as Beethoven and Schumann to promote culture, music and tourism in Fondi.

It takes place around Fondi in appealing places that combine art and history, such as in the setting of the beautiful Palazzo Caetani, with the scheduled performances  throughout the year.

The historic centre of Fondi becomes a stage for concerts with different musical genres and offers those who visit Fondi the opportunity to choose between different events.

The festival program also involves the numerous districts of the coastal strip. The calendar begins with the New Year concert and ends with the Christmas concert, covering all the civil and religious events.

Soloists, chamber music and symphonic orchestras participate in concerts at the Fondi Music Festival: from classical piano music concerts at Palazzo Caetani, to organ concerts at the Chiesa di Fondi, through chamber orchestra concerts.

A space is dedicated to the youngest artists of the conservatory who open each concert with a short performance. In every edition of this festival one of the best known conductors of the world directs the "Città di Fondi" Chamber Orchestra.

Over the years exceptional artists have performed, such as the duo of Matteo Cossu on the violin and Gabriele Pezone on the piano, tenor Roberto Cresca and the pianist Gianfranco Pappalardo Fiumara, the roman guitarist Matteo Pontone, the pianist Pierluigi Camicia, the duo Vannucci and Torrigiani, Inge Beck, the pianist Valerio Premuroso, the pianist Maurizio Moretta, the New Zealand Chamber Soloists, the pianist Giraud with the violinist Haffner, Robert Carter Austin, the clarinetist Andrea Loccia, the Colombian cellist Laura Ospina, the flautist Giuseppe Branca and the cellist Silvano Maria Fusco, the Mexican pianist Vladimir Curiel, the pianist Rossella Spinosa and the Portuguese director Mario Mateus, the Polish master Jan Milosz Zarzycki, the American pianist Andrew Pae, the international pianists Pierre-Laurent Boucharlat and Antonio Di Cristofano.

The extraordinary beauty of the sites enriches the review. The places hosting the events, in addition to the main stage, are the most important historical sites of Fondi: the Palazzo Caetani of Fondi, the Cathedral of San Pietro, the Church of Santa Maria, the municipal auditorium, the Cloister of San Domenico, the largo of the former church of Sant'Antonio and the Jewish quarter of Judea.
