The music in the centre of Formello in July is FormelloJazz Festival that offers some magical musical evenings that seek flair and good weather on summer nights.
Every summer the Jazz Week in Formello is filled with faces that like this kind of music, linking its rhythm to swing and improvisation.
Every year on the Formello stage, bands and artists are invited to pay homage to Jazz with tributes and pieces of international music. These are sparkling evenings with jazz bands alternating with groups that combine other musical genres, and a refreshment point where you can taste the local dishes. There is a tribute to the return of the legendary 1960s with the exhibition of vintage cars.
The presence of crowds confirms the pleasure of the rediscovery of this amiable musical genre that is becoming more and more widespread among young people.
During the festival you can hear tributes to Frank Sinatra, admire dance schools whose members dance an ageless swing that with the parade of vintage cars frame the atmosphere and leave the audience surprised.
In addition to the concerts, in the afternoon on the days of the festival it is possible to attend film screenings and if the lucky visitor may be a musician he could take lessons and swing master classes from the teachers in which to learn to play this beloved style.
On some days of the festival, the classic car rally shows fashion shows from the 1920s and 1940s or from the 40s and 60s.
Every year the Formello Jazz Festival organizes events to celebrate together the power of music, as well as promoting for some years now the winter edition, the FormelloJazz Winter.
FormelloJazz Festival has become over the years one of the most populated events of the Formellese summer, a recurring event that you should not miss.
There are great artists guests every year on stage at the centre of Formello. From 2009 to today performerss have included: Mariano and Antonella Aprea with Aprea Quintet group, Giorgio Cuscito with Exotica, Armando Bertozzi with the New Generatio Band, Enrico Zanisi Trio, Greg and Jazz Bond, Luca Velotti Quartet, Carlo Loffredo and his Band, Greg again with the Swing de Luxe, Elisabetta Antonini in Women Next Door (an all-female group for 1950s music), Lino Patruno Jazz Show, the clarinetist Gianni Sanjust, Giorgio Cuscito on piano and sax, Greg Swingin Affair, Gigì and the Nowadays Orchestra, Swing Valley Band, Bixi Big Band, Marco Guidolotti Quartet, Gabriele Coen Quintet, Massimo Pirone, Max Ciafrei Orchestra, Band of Formello, Band of Campagnano, Ladyvette.
FormelloJazz was created from an idea by Cesare Banchi, Alessandro Banchi and the cultural association of the Atletico Eventi Group to bring the international Jazz in the historical centre, in Piazza San Lorenzo since 2009.
