The Franz Liszt Festival was born to highlight the relationship that Liszt had with Albano during his Roman years and takes place in the autumn period.
In fact Franz Liszt was hosted in Albano Laziale, where he stayed at Palazzo Lercari, and in 1879 he was appointed honorary canon of the cathedral of Albano by the chancellor Don Francesco Giorni.
The festival aims to promote and spread the music of Liszt and composers of the romantic period with the collaboration of the Hungarian Academy in Rome of the Franz Liszt Geselschaft Eschweiler, the Liszt Museum in Budapest and the Liszt Institute in Bologna.
The festival was born in 1986 and saw the participation of internationally renowned artists such as Roberto Cappello, Bruno Canino, Antonio Ballista, Csaba Kyraly, Tamas Erdi, Aquiles Delle Vigne, Manfred Reuthe, Kazimierz Morski, Violetta Palatinus, Kornelia, Bakos, Jozsef Acs, Andras Viragh, Andras Molnar, Janos Toth, Paolo Restani, Massimo Rossi, Gesualdo Coggi, Roberto Prosseda.
