On the second Sunday of October, in Sermoneta the 'Historical Commemoration' takes place to commemmorate the Battle of Lepanto.
It was fought between Christians and Muslims in the sixteenth century in which Onorato IV Caetani, Commander General of the papal infantry, and many Sermonetani soldiers participated.
The parade takes place on the occasion of the Festa della Madonna della Vittoria.
The parade is held in period costumes, with medieval and modern games and music that characterize these festivities.
Onorato Caetani, duke of Sermoneta, re-finds the bride on the return of the battle and together with the people they celebrate with a prize.
The scenes are recited in sixteenth-century dialect and the evening ends with a musical show at the Park of Remembrance.
