Rocca Sinibalda. Historical re-enactment of the ‘Palio dei Saraceni’

In the year 846 the Saracens arrived in Rome, navigating the Tiber, and ransacked its treasures, and in 881 came out for the Sabina.

After seven years of storming the Abbey of Farfa, they invaded Turano and Salto, burned San Salvatore and destroyed Rieti.

Only in 915, with the victory of Garigliano, were the Saracens finally defeated.

The Palio dei Saraceni of Rocca Sinibalda seeks to remember these very ancient invasions.
