Campagnano di Roma. The Bacchanal Festival

Campagnano di Roma. The Bacchanal Festival

The first Sunday of May the whole town comes together to celebrate the Festa del Baccanale (Baccanale Festival) in Campagnano di Roma.

The event has local food as a central theme and all the traditions that revolve around it, inviting producers from all over the province and the “Campagna Romana” (Roman Countryside) to showcase their products and produce.

Each year the theme of the event changes, activities and tastings are organized around a fruit, vegetable or traditional dish chosen that year to represent the festival.

The event also relieves the folklore and popular traditions of the town.

There are the historical parade in traditional renaissance costumes, and the Palio delle Contrade, where riders from all the districts inside the town of Campagnano di Roma compete against each other in a donkey race.
