The Liri Blues is an International Blues Festival held in July in Veroli, one of Ciociaria's most enchanting art cities. Born in 1988, it is organized over a week and is free since its first edition.
At the concerts in the square there are night jam sessions and music in the streets. The exhibition, while remaining faithful to the tradition, has gradually opened up to different contaminations and genres such as gospel, soul and jazz, maintaining its unmistakable blues style.
After the first years the festival became itinerant, touching the most suggestive cities of Ciociaria.
Subsequently, the event has stabilized and today is held exclusively in Veroli. Fans from all over Italy follow these events that manage to blend different emotions.
In the 30 editions spent the Liri Blues has welcomed the greatest blues musicians in the world and famous Italian bluesmen such as Roberto Ciotti, Paolo Bonfanti, Fabio Treves, Edoardo Bennato, Alex Britti, Tolo Marton, Rudy Rotta, Robi Zonca, Guido Toffoletti, Lello Panico.
From the 90s to today there were incredible musicians such as Jorma Kaukonen, Canned Heat, Art Ensemble of Chicago, Pentangle, Fairport Convention, Elliott Murphy, The Fleshtones, Luther Allison, Son Seals, Jimmy Rogers, James Cotton harmonica and Rockin 'Dopsie accordion, Mike Stern, Yellowjackets, Shemekia Copeland, The Soul Stirrers, Bo Diddley, Magic Slim, Alvin Batiste, Branford Marsalis, Corey Harris, Albert King, Pinetop Perkins, Buddy Guy, John Mayall, Michael Coleman, Bettye LaVette, Albert Lee, Sonny Landreth, Dr. John, Rockin 'Dopsie, CJ Chenier and Zachary Richard, Jimmy Smith, Charlie Musselwhite, Scott Henderson, Robben Ford, Eric Bibb, John Martyn, Paul Lamb, Robin Trower, The Bluesbreakers, Mick Taylor and Eric Burdon & The Animals, Al Kooper and Taj Mahal, Dr. Sunflower, Willy DeVille, eclectic personalities like Otis Taylor, Maceo Parker, Colosseum and particularly technical guitarists like Sonny Landreth, Derek Trucks, Albert Lee.
Since 2002, the Liri Blues begins the collaboration with Radio Rai that will continue in the following years. At the Liri Blues is the blues of the overseas king, a festival of European resonance.
The review, now organized by Duke & Bird, has always counted on the decisive contribution of collaborators, volunteers and profound blues connoisseurs such as Mario Insenga (Blue Stuff), who have always been at the side of the festival.
