Canterano. Festival of the Strozzapreti Pizzicati

The festival of strozzapreti - sagra degli Strozzapreti of Canterano combined food and music, food and wine and dancing in the square.

Strozzapreti are the typical pasta of central Italy based on flour, water and salt that are kneaded by hand and seasoned with sauces of various kinds depending on the season.

The 'pizzica' is the typical music of Salento that takes its name from the pinch of the tarantula, a spider particularly aggressive during the harvest, and that has become the emblem of summer evenings dancing in the square.
