Gerano. Festival of Zazzicchie and Verole

The third weekend of October in Gerano takes place a festival dedicated to "zazzicchie" (sausages) and "verole" (chestnuts).

The sausages are accompanied by local wine according to the tradition of this country nestled in chestnut woods and olive groves east of Rome on the Ruffi Mountains that separate the Giovenzano valley from the Aniene Valley.

It is said that its name comes from that of the Mountain of Cranes (Gherania) located in Greece.
