A small village with a big heart, this is Sermugnano, a fraction of Castiglione in Teverina that is located on a tufa appendix at the intersection of two streams flowing at its base: the Fosso Cieco or Vionica and the Rio Chiaro or Fossatello. Its position denotes its Etruscan origin, confirmed by the findings found over the years.
On this hill in the Middle Ages a castle was formed and then the village. In August, on the occasion of the Gnocchi Festival, the housewives are all dedicated to the preparation of fabulous gnocchi and the streets of the village are filled with tables and chairs for one of the most heartfelt moments of aggregation.
In addition to the gnocchi you can taste other local delights such as grilled meat, strictly from the territory, side dishes and wines from the best wineries in the area.
