Velletri. Grape and wine festival

The grape and wine festival of Velletri is a weekend dedicated to what has been a great resource for this area for centuries.

Velletri wines have been renowned for many centuries and the countryside and landscape are characterized by rows of vineyards.

The party is an opportunity to promote grapes and wine but also the food and wine products of the area in the stands where it is possible to have tastings. The 'Grappolo d'Oro' award is dedicated to the artisans.

On Sunday morning a historical procession parades through the streets of Velletri with costumed figures and flag-wavers. During the weekend it is possible to make free visits to museums and places of culture.

The cultivation of vines and the production of wine were fundamental for the economy of Velletri.

In 1882 an Enological Fair was held and in these same years the well-known Experimental Winery was born.

The first edition of the Velletri Grape Festival dates back to 1930 and continues to this day, representing one of the most popular social moments in city life.
