Bassano in Teverina. Feast of the Saints Fidenzio and Terenzio

Bassano in Teverina. Feast of the Saints Fidenzio and Terenzio

September 27 is a day of great celebration in Bassano in Teverina dedicated to the patrons Saints Fidenzio and Terenzio.

Fidenzio and Terenzio are two faithful men of Syrian origin who went to Rome during the period of Diocletian's persecutions to demonstrate their faith.

Legend says that they were subjected to various experiences of martyrdom such as fire but they always came out unharmed.

Even a bear attacked and tore apart the soldiers so that the martyrs were removed from Rome and beheaded.

The religious festivities include a solemn mass and a procession with the two statues carried through the streets of the village accompanied by music of the band.

Yet the festival also includes periods of fun with games for children, outdoor degustation and live music performances.
