Bassano Romano. Feast of San Gratiliano

In Bassano Romano, the town's patron saint is celebrated on August 12 with a solemn religious ceremony and events in the town.

August 12 is the day of the martyrdom of St. Gratiliano at Falerii in Viterbo.

A legend says that in 1437, while the sacred relic of St. Gratiliano was transported from Civita Castellana to Sutri, his head fell out of the box that contained it.

The head rolled stopping in the place where later the church was built.
