Rieti. Beribboned horses and the feast of St Anthony the Abbot

The festival of the beribboned horses takes place in Rieti the first Sunday after Jan. 17, the day of the feast of St Anthony the Abbot.

It consists in the parade of horses and riders in historical costume who go to the church of Saint Anthony on the day of the blessing of the animals.

It recalls the tradition from the early twentieth century, when the most widespread profession in the district of Porta D'Arci was that of carter.
